There’s been a lot of talk of supply chain issues and retail shortages impacting holiday celebrations this year, even as many families are putting behind concerns over Covid-19. Some optimistic folks are taking it in stride, noting that diminished availability of gifts may be the thing that encourages people to focus on togetherness and celebration from November through January, instead of focusing on material things.
Full-disclosure: As a seller of flooring in Columbus, Ohio, we’re not about to use this space for a manifesto against materialism. We’re just going to take a few paragraphs to try to convince you that as long as you have to make tough choices, you might find that your spending creates more happiness if you devote it to the sorts of services we provide.
We like to think that’s equally true whether we’re talking about flooring sales, installation, or professional cleaning of pre-installed flooring in Columbus homes. Each of these services represents an opportunity to maximize the enjoyment of shared spaces by families and friend groups who may be getting together at Thanksgiving or Christmas for the first time in several months, if not in nearly two years.
It’s widely understood that not everyone will be hauling the same sacksful of gifts and treats to one another’s homes during this holiday season. As long as that is the case, why shouldn’t it also be accepted that a sizable portion of each host’s holiday budget is dedicated to gussying up the venue for family gatherings, whether it be with new furniture, new carpets, freshly cleaned hardwoods or laminates, and so on?
Of course, we have to acknowledge that supply chain issues are affecting our industry as well. So options for new flooring in Columbus may not be as robust as they were before the pandemic. But the offerings in our showroom are still expansive and feature the same high quality we’ve always taken pride in. That pride is only amplified by the thought that some Columbus area residents will be getting more conscious enjoyment out of their homes this year than they have for many years prior.
We don’t want to overstate the importance of our industry, but we genuinely believe that our services help to make houses into fully-realized homes. We’re hopeful that this year in particular, our customers and their loved ones will see the flooring in Columbus households the way we see it: as the foundations upon which precious memories are built.
